Good Corporate Neighboor

Addressing the Atlanta Press Club on April 17, Philip Teel, corporate vice president and -president, Northrop Grumman Mission System remarks were to announce some new bold initiatives building on a over a twenty year relationship with Georgia.   Teel a Georgia Tech graduate has strong ties to Georgia, a native of Columbus and father of two daughters who graduated from University of Georgia is proud of his Georgia roots.  When Teel first went north on his rise up the corporate ladder, he told a captive audience, “that as a Southerner he would speed up his speech if the audience would slow down their listening.  Then they could meet in the middle”.  He was glad to be home address a southern audience.

Even though Northrop Grumman is a major global corporation that provides a majority of the state’s technological infrastructure for Georgia, the general public is unaware of their work.  Teel’s presentation was announcing initiatives that would expand their presence in Georgia and continue the commitment of being a good corporate citizen in an ever changing global economy.

The announcement centered on three new initiatives.  First increase the presence in Georgia by creating forty two hundred new jobs.  Second, continue being committed to community educational partnerships and third looking for new opportunities to develop relationships throughout the state.

Most exciting is the news that Georgia will be a stop to host the company’s Zero Gravity air plane on October 7, 2008.  These two scheduled flights will allow educators and journalist the opportunity to experience zero gravity while performing scientific experiments.  The goal is to maximize the message of the importance of science.  What better way than to disseminate this lesson through the lenses of educators and journalists.

As best captured by their promotional video to air on Georgia television, Northrop Grumman is focused on “defining the future”.
