2002

User-friendly political information tailored for students. Political editorials, for example, are not written by paid pundits, but are submitted by site visitors. There's also a section specifically for women, with columns written by heavy-weights like Maureen Dowd and the ever controverial Ann Coulter. Plus loads of links and recent news on women's rights issues. The Education section is not to be missed, with plenty of well chosen links like Election 2000 coverage. Check out the PureFun section for some entertaining political links, from a "Weakest Link" parody with Bush and Cheney to cartoons and satires like sourgrapes.org.

BEST: This well-designed site lives up to its slogan: "Politics Everyone Can Enjoy."

PurePolitics at purepolitics.com/state/statearizona.htm has some nice coverage of the candidates running for the various offices. It includes links to each candidate's Web site.  There you will find spit-shined, party-approved views of the people who are running. While you're not likely to gain a lot of insight into the candidates' mind-set, you can at least learn where they came from and what kind of experience they have.

There is also a Q&A column specifically for women--currently running an interesting piece about Gary Condit and Chandra Levy--and message boards and a chat room. The Education section is not to be missed, with plenty of well chosen links like the PBS American Presidents documentary Web site. Check out the PureFun section for some entertaining political links, from a "Weakest Link" parody with Bush and Cheney to crossword puzzles and online quizzes. 2000
"Having just gone live, PurePolitics.com is dedicated to providing political information by and for the American citizen. Political editorials, for example, are not written by paid pundits, but are submitted by site users. There is also a Q&A column specifically for women, although nothing has been posted yet, and message boards and a chat room. The Education section is quite good, with plenty of well chosen links like the PBS American Presidents documentary Web site. Ever want to read the minutes from the First Continental Congress or the transcripts from Andrew Johnson's impeachment trial? Click on the link to the the Library of Congress. A great resource for students......[more]"
"This is an American politics and history site. No don’t stop reading because this site is aimed at those who are not big fans of politics. It contains useful information on American history and government. If this sounds too educational by half there are trivia games here too. It was a big hit." (2/11/00)
"Purepolitics.com has set a noble - though some might say, unattainable - goal: to generate popular excitement about the political process. Along with news, it includes an "entertainment area" featuring a trivia challenge, links to satire and toons." (5/11/00)
Feeling Disenfranchised?
"Here’s a political site for those of us who really hate politics. And who would rather spend a weekend with Richard Simmons than five minutes with any Senator." (5/12/00) Site Rating 10
"The very best part of the site is the education section. Here, you can get back to basics and learn about the structure of our government, look at federal maps, see a list of all American Presidents, read about the history of our military, browse through America's founding documents, or perform any number of other worthwhile pursuits. You're not going to be able to avoid the mention of politics from now until after the big election, so you might as well find a pleasurable way to deal with it. PurePolitics.com may just be that way."  (5/18/00)
Editors' Choice: "a fun and interactive political web site" (1/12/00)
....a comprehensive, highly educational site campaigning "to generate excitement in American politics for everyday American citizens." (5/29/00)
"...obtain in-depth political information from PurePolitics.com." (6/5/00)
"Fun & Interactive Political Website." (7/15/00)
