• First Governor in Texas history to be re-elected in consecutive terms-1998:68.6% of the vote

• Married former librarian and school teacher, Laura

• Has twin 18 year old daughters Barbara and Jenna

• Has a dog—spot, and two cats—India and Ernie

• Is a Methodist in faith

• First President since 1876 to win the electoral vote and lose the popular vote .
